Building applications for the Linux Standard Base
نویسنده
چکیده
C. Yeoh The goal of the Linuxe Standard Base (LSB) is to develop and promote a set of standards that will increase compatibility among Linux distributions and enable software applications to run on any compliant Linux system. There are currently LSB specifications available for the Intel Architecture IA-32e processors and for the 32and 64-bit PowerPCe, Itaniume, 31and 64-bit zSeriese, and AMD64e architectures. This paper describes the process of building LSB-compliant applications, and covers the use of the LSB development environments, testing of binaries, and packaging.

Linux Distributions and Applications Analysis During Linux Standard Base Development
This paper presents a novel approach of collecting and managing information about existing Linux distributions and applications necessary for standardizing Linux ecosystem during Linux Standard Base specification development. The approach is based on the usage of database designed on the basis of abstract model of the Linux ecosystem. The process of database schema design is described as well a...
متن کاملPanoply: Low-TCB Linux Applications With SGX Enclaves
Intel SGX, a new security capability in emerging CPUs, allows user-level application code to execute in hardwareisolated enclaves. Enclave memory is isolated from all other software on the system, even from the privileged OS or hypervisor. While being a promising hardware-rooted building block, enclaves have severely limited capabilities, such as no native access to system calls and standard OS...
متن کاملReal - time capabilities in the standard Linux Kernel : How to enable and use them ?
Linux was originally designed as a general purpose operating system without consideration for real-time applications. Recently, it has become more attractive to the real-time community due to its low cost and open source approach. In order to help the real-time community, we will present in this paper the practical steps required to achieve a real-time Linux by applying the PREEMPT-RT patches w...
متن کاملUsing the OSKit as a base for L4 applications
The OSKit is a framework and set of modularized components and library code, together with extensive documentation, for the construction of operating-system kernels, servers, and other OS-level functionality [3]. The DROPS project at Dresden University of Technology has been using the OSKit since the Flux group of Utah University released OSKit 0.60. We used it as a library of pieces useful for...
متن کاملBuilding Desktop Application with Web Services in a Message-based MVC Paradigm
Over the past decade, classic client side applications with Model-View-Controller (MVC) architecture haven’t changed much but become more complex. In this paper, we present an approach of building desktop applications with Web Services in an explicit message-based MVC paradigm. By integrating with our publish/subscribe messaging middleware, it makes SVG browser (a Microsoft PowerPoint like clie...
